Early Childhood Education (PAUD) is explicitly mandated by Law No. 20 of 2003 on the National Education System. Article 1, clause 14 defines it as “an educational development effort aimed at children from birth to six years of age, carried out through the provision of educational stimulation to support physical and spiritual growth and development, so that children are prepared to enter further levels of education.”
To carry out this developmental effort effectively, a number of policy interventions in early childhood education are required. These interventions are proposed based on PSPK’s observations of existing policies and their implementation. In this edition of Kilas Pendidikan, several policy recommendations related to strengthening and improving the quality of PAUD are presented.
