Building Expertise through Professionalism in the Merdeka Campus Initiative:A Study on Academic Workload of Lecturers in Indonesia

The Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy is not solely designed to serve the interests of students. Beyond that, educators are also significantly affected by this reform. Within the context of higher education, the policy reshapes lecturers’ roles, responsibilities, and professional expectations—particularly with regard to academic workload.

This edition of the PSPK Policy Brief examines the relationship between the implementation of MBKM and lecturers’ workload (Beban Kerja Dosen/BKD), as well as its implications for academic professionalism in Indonesian higher education institutions.
