This edition of KILAS PENDIDIKAN highlights the practice of standards-based education in Indonesia. The study is driven by various challenges encountered during the implementation of the National Education Standards (Standar Nasional Pendidikan/SNP), which have resulted in the SNP not yet functioning optimally as a mechanism for quality assurance in Indonesian education.
In this KILAS PENDIDIKAN, the author briefly presents the background of the emergence of standardization in the education sector, followed by an overview of how Indonesia has implemented standards-based education through the SNP and the challenges faced in practice. By comparing international practices, reviewing existing research, and analyzing relevant regulations, the author seeks to recommend SNP-related policies that are relevant and capable of realizing sustainable quality assurance in accordance with Indonesia’s educational context.
