The Center for Education and Policy Studies (PSPK) consistently advocates for child-centered education policies grounded in research and data. As part of its commitment to producing high-quality and impactful research, PSPK is once again organizing the Research Fellowship Programme.
About the Fellowship
This year, PSPK is seeking Indonesian research talents (emerging researchers) to engage in a series of research and policy advocacy activities related to mobile device use in school settings. Restrictions on mobile device use in schools are part of broader efforts to optimize teaching and learning processes. To support and ensure their effectiveness, robust monitoring, evaluation, and capacity-building for schools are essential. Accordingly, fellows in this area will be involved in:
- Developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks
- Monitoring implementation
- Supporting capacity-building activities for school leaders and teachers in policy implementation
- Supporting public communication and policy outreach activities
Key Responsibilities
- Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks
- Monitor implementation processes
- Collect, manage, and/or analyze data for monitoring and evaluation purposes
- Support capacity-building activities for principals and teachers in implementing policies
- Support coordination with partner organizations
- Support dissemination of research findings and policy advocacy activities
- Produce one policy brief aligned with the study area, to be published by PSPK
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduate students or at minimum bachelor’s degree holders in education, psychology, social sciences, or public policy
- Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in education research and policy advocacy
- Experience in developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and instruments
- Proficiency in quantitative data analysis tools (STATA, R, or SPSS)
- Proficiency in qualitative data analysis tools (NVIVO, MAXQDA, or similar software) is an asset
- Experience and research portfolio using qualitative and/or quantitative methods in public policy research
- Willingness to participate in activities in the Greater Jakarta area

Duration
Research Fellows will be engaged in research and advocacy activities through June 2026.
Application Process
Applicants are required to submit:
- A cover letter (maximum 300 words) in Indonesian or English
- A Curriculum Vitae including educational background, relevant research experience, and a research portfolio from the past five years
- An essay in Indonesian or English on the implementation and impact of mobile device restriction policies in schools based on international practices (500–1,000 words, excluding references)
- One published journal article or policy brief as first author in Indonesian or English (optional)
