Pusat Studi Pendidikan dan Kebijakan (PSPK) is an independent non-profit foundation focused on strengthening child-centered learning policies. PSPK is committed to scientific data and promotes best practices in the field within Indonesia’s education ecosystem.
Job Overview: Lead of Communications and Partnership
Under the supervision and reports directly to the Executive Director, s/he will be responsible for developing and implementing communication plans, executing events to enhance PSPK’s visibility, reputation/branding, and impact with the audience, mainly the government stakeholders, managing partnership strategies and identifying business opportunities to generate revenue resources and increase client partnerships.
Qualifications
- Preferred bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience in managing communications, public relations, partnership management or related roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, creatively, and analytically to solve complex communication challenges.
- Self-starter, independent and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Ability to manage a team of team members with different skill sets.
- Lifelong learner, willing to learn education policy issues.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools, social media platforms, and content management systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communications Strategy & Planning
- Develop and drive the PSPK’s communications and public engagement plans in line with its mission and priorities.
- Plan and coordinate communications for education programmes, campaigns, advocacy work, events and fundraising activities.
- Shape clear and consistent messages for the organisation and its programmes.
- Keep track of communication trends and identify practical ways to improve the PSPK’s visibility and outreach.
2. Content & Storytelling
- Oversee the preparation of communication materials such as annual reports, donor reports, press releases, newsletters, website articles, social media posts, presentations and relevant materials.
- Work with project teams to gather stories, photographs, videos and testimonials from communities and beneficiaries.
- Turn programme activities and outcomes into meaningful stories that show the impact of PSPK’s work.
- Ensure all communications are accurate, respectful and aligned with the PSPK’s values and safeguarding standards.
- Ensure key materials are available in both Bahasa Indonesia and English, with Bahasa Indonesia versions written clearly and professionally for local audiences.
3. Media & Public Relations
- Build and maintain good working relationships with journalists, media outlets, influencers and other communications partners in Indonesia and international sphere
- Coordinate interviews, media briefings, press releases and public statements when required.
- Act as the main contact person for media and external communication matters.
- Track media coverage and provide updates on how the organisation is being perceived publicly.
- Lead and manage PSPK’s events both internal and partner/client/stakeholder events.
4. Digital Communications
- Manage the PSPK’s online presence, including its website, email communications and social media accounts.
- Plan and run digital campaigns to increase awareness, engagement and support for the organisation’s work.
- Review social media and website performance and use the findings to improve future content.
- Ensure all digital content is timely, relevant and consistent with the organisation’s branding.
5. Donor, Partner & Stakeholder Communications
- Research and identify potential donors, partners, and social-business opportunities aligned with PSPK’s mission and program.
- Support ongoing communication with donors, schools, government agencies, foundations, PSPKs and partners.
- Prepare donor updates, impact summaries, presentations and materials to support fundraising and partnership discussions.
- Work closely with programme teams to communicate project progress and results clearly.
- Support the development of partnerships with education institutions and other organisations.
6. Internal Communications
- Help ensure staff across the organisation are informed, aligned and aware of key updates.
- Prepare internal announcements, staff newsletters, event communications and other internal materials based on management direction
- Support senior management with speeches, talking points and communication for staff engagement.
7. Team Leadership & Support
- Lead and support the communications team, including staff, designers, photographers and external agencies where needed.
- Guide and coach junior team members to help them develop their skills and competence
- Put in place practical communication guidelines and simple SOPs to improve consistency.
- Manage the communications budget and ensure resources are used effectively.
